Stephanie in Tema, Ghana
Hello All!!
I made it to Ghana late on Monday night!! I had a good flight from RDU to London. I had an eight hour lay over in Londan and had to switch airports!!
Once the arrival to Ghana- it was around 9pm! We got through customs and the Mercy Ships teams were awaiting arrival!! About 8 of us were on the same flight from London!!
The journey begins- we were all in different jeeps to get to the ship!! The jeep I was in- got left behind and we has a flat tire!! One man and five women!!! We were able to get to a gas station and it took over an hour to get the tire back on!! Some of the workers at the Gas station were able to help!! Our jack would not work and we had no telephone to call the Mercy Ships!! So we had entertainment early on!!
We finally arrived to the Mercy ships at about 12MN and had to fill out paperwork and take a picture!!!!!!
My room has the potential to house 6 women- my closet is about 16 inches!! My cabin is down about 2 flights of steep steps!!! I have roommates from Virginia, Minnesota, and Australia!
The funniest part so far is that we have labled toliets- Liquids only is all I will say!!
We have been busy with orientation since I got here- learning about Ghana, ship rules and how the nursing ward will work!! It is about 30 or so nurses from all over the world!
I have not seen Ghana at all!! We should maybe get out some this weekend!! and on monday we will be at a local church doing screening for surgeries to start next week!!
I am so excited to be here!!! God is truly at Work here in Ghana!! I count it an honor to be here in Ghana to serve My Savior Jesus Christ!!
I Pray that everyone is well!! I will try to get pictures out on the Blog soon!!!
Blessings, Peace, and Love to everyone!!!!
